In a general audience in 1995, John Paul II explained the mystery of “Mary as our Mother”. This consoling truth, which the love and faith of the Church offers us in an ever clearer and more profound way, has sustained and sustains our spiritual life and encourages us during moments of suffering to the confidence and hope found in Mary, the Mother of God. Sister María de las Virtudes, a member of the Institute Servants of the Lord and the Virgin of Matará (SSVM), female branch of the Religious Family of the Incarnate Word, illustrates Our Lady’s maternity in beautifully written plays for children. This volume contains four plays on: Our Lady of Lourdes, Fatima, Guadalupe, and Luján. These stories transmit the mystery of Our Lady from the perspective of those she has chosen: simple children and youth. In them, we see the simplicity and heroism of the little shepherds of Fatima, the pure innocence of Bernadette of Lourdes, the meekness of the native Juan Diego and the humility of Manuel, who lived as a slave of love to Our Lady of Luján. All of these characters have become beautiful examples of sanctity for children, stimulating them to follow Christ. These four plays provide a new catechetical way of narrating the simple truths of our faith.
