Suffering is a vocation. Although it may appear to be strange and even scandalous for some to hear such an affirmation, suffering is a true vocation and it must be understood as such by those who have received the grace of faith. The prophet Isaiah would anticipate in calling Jesus: “a man of suffering, accustomed to infirmity.” Thus, all those who have been called by God the Father must be conformed to the image of His Son and bear our daily crosses with patience and joy. Father Miguel Angel Fuentes (IVE) uses different meditations on suffering in order to accompany the sick and the elderly in their personal reflection on suffering and intercessory prayer.
